Columbia Women's Hiking Boots Hazel Crest IL

Unlike my mountaineering boots, these Columbia boots are very lightweight, which is nice for casual hiking, snowshoeing, or playing in the snow. They definitely fit true to size, and I always get a half size larger than my foot size in hiking boots and running shoes to make sure I have adequate room for my Superfeet insoles , sock liners, and hiking socks.

Columbia Women's Winter Trek Winter Hiking Boot

Columbia Winter Trek Boots

Columbia Winter Trek Boots

We finally have snow in the local Southern California mountains, so I decided to give my Columbia Women’s Winter Trek Omni-Tech Boots a try on a snowshoeing trip last weekend. Columbia Sportswear asked me to check out these new boots, specifically designed for women to wear hiking, snowshoeing, or on outdoor winter adventures (including throwing snowballs!)

Unlike my mountaineering boots, these Columbia boots are very lightweight, which is nice for casual hiking, snowshoeing, or playing in the snow. They definitely fit true to size, and I always get a half size larger than my foot size in hiking boots and running shoes to make sure I have adequate room for my Superfeet insoles , sock liners, and hiking socks . Another feature I really like about these boots is the gusseted tongue, which means that snow and dirt can’t slip inside. The boot also comes up high on my ankle, which is another good feature, because it provides support and helps keep snow out.

I did find that after a day of romping in the snow, my feet did get a bit cold, but I was out for a very long day… I think they’d be very well suited for casual use. Also, the sides of the boot have a very stylish stitched design, but for a complete waterproof design it would be better off to have this as one solid piece.

Overall these are a good choice for casual hikers and snowshoers, and offer a good value for the price.
